How to Become a USSF Grassroots Referee
- Must be 13 or older
- Complete Training Course 1 – Online Lessons (3.5–4.5 hours)
- Complete Training Course 2 – In-Person Field Clinic (3.5 hours)
- Registration Cost: $80
Grassroots Referee Course Overview
- Entry-level course for recreational and competitive youth games
- Includes online modules (via US Soccer Learning Center) and an in-person or virtual session
Training Breakdown
Course 1: Online Lessons
- 8 modules (must be completed before clinic selection)
- Approx. 3.5–4.5 hours
Course 2: In-Person Field Clinic
- Available after completing online modules
- 3.5-hour outdoor session
- Covers assignments, game access, uniforms, etc.
